INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
Inclusive Education
At ASCEND Online, we see each student as a unique individual to be celebrated, supported in their learning and development. Our programs are based on the understanding that learning grows from strong relationships of trust and acceptance, and from thoughtful, open-hearted communication. Students who need support for learning above and beyond the K-12 program are included in the Inclusive Education (formerly called Special Education) program, either through Learning Services or through IEd services.
Learning Services provides support for students who have learning disabilities, ADHD, mild intellectual disability, speech/articulation challenges and moderate behaviour/mental health issues. Based on needs, an IEP may be created, which details the programs and resources provided to support students in reaching the goals on their Student Learning Plan and may include additional learning and development goals.
Inclusive Education (Special Education) Services provides support for students with disabilities and diverse abilities. An IEP is provided for each student, which details the programs and resources provided to support them in reaching the goals on their Student Learning Plan and may include additional learning and development goals.
Depending on the needs presented, extra support, services and resources may include:
- digital and print resources that target specific social, communication, behavioural or academic needs
- specialist support and diagnostic testing
- educational support
- purchase of specialized learning tools, resources and equipment
