I have lived in the city of Kamloops since 1998. I attended Catholic brick and mortar schools for my elementary and high school years. It was at one of these schools, in grade four, where I met my future husband. We have been married for nine years and have two little girls ages 8 and 3. Our 8-year-old has been attending ASCEND since September, 2020. I have been working as an office staff member with ASCEND since September, 2017. I am so grateful to be a part of such a vibrant, caring, learning community. We had considered moving our daughter from brick and mortar school to ASCEND prior to the schools shutting down in March, 2020. With so many unknowns in the brick and mortar school setting, we made the decision, as a family, that it was time to homeschool. Our daughter is thriving learning from home with the support of our contact teacher. Now that we are entering into our second year with ASCEND, our daughter, and my husband and I, cannot imagine her ever going back to the traditional school setting. We are loving being part of her learning and growth on a daily basis. It is truly a blessing in my life to work from home and educate our children at the same time.
